Job Description

Ready to take flight in a role that blends technology, nature, and purpose? At Oxygen Conservation, we know data is one of the most powerful tools we have to Scale Conservation. We’re looking for a Junior Drone Surveyor to join our growing data and technology team, someone who can see landscapes not just for what they are, but for what they could become.

From drone surveys and data management to 3D visualisations and GIS, this role is your opportunity to use cutting-edge technology to help restore ecosystems, protect wildlife, and redefine how conservation happens at scale.

ABOUT YOU

If you’re excited about using innovative tools to support real-world conservation outcomes, we’d love to meet you—especially if you can bring some of the following:

ENVIRONMENT

  • Deep passion for the natural world and a commitment to protecting and restoring it through data-driven insight.
  • Understanding of how remote sensing, geospatial data, and drone technologies can accelerate environmental restoration.
  • Excitement about contributing to real-world climate and biodiversity impact across landscapes in England, Scotland, and Wales.

IMPACT

  • Experience planning and piloting drone surveys for topographical and environmental deliverables, ideally holding a General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC). If you don’t yet hold a GVC, we’d still love to hear why you’re exceptional, how you’ll add value while training.
  • Skills in managing, processing, and visualising spatial data, using tools such as ArcGIS, DJI Terra, Pix4D, or Cloud Compare.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and data quality. • Analytical thinking with the curiosity to test, learn, and continuously improve how we collect and present spatial data.

ADVENTURE

  • Passion for the outdoors and willingness to travel to remote estates across the UK, working in all weathers and conditions, and using world-class equipment to navigate exciting terrain, independently.
  • Enthusiasm for experimentation, innovation, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with drone and remote sensing technology. • A proactive, self-starting mindset, you thrive on solving complex problems in dynamic environments.

TOGETHER

  • Excellent communicator who enjoys working collaboratively with multiple teams.
  • Kind, approachable, and generous with your knowledge (and your snacks).
  • Committed to fostering a positive, supportive team culture where everyone can do their best work.
  • Focused on sharing and presenting spatial data that shows our commitment to data-driven decisions for a range of audiences.

We believe in recruiting exceptional people and shaping roles that allow them to achieve extraordinary things. We are committed to building a genuinely diverse team drawn from across the country, with a wide range of lived and learnt experiences. You may bring lots of strengths in some areas and less in others, and that is absolutely fine. What matters most is knowledge of the wider investment sector, together with the ability to build positive, collaborative relationships. If you can bring those qualities and a passion for making a difference, we would love to hear from you.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You’ll work closely with our existing Terrain Detective, GIS Expert, and Estate teams to collect, process, and visualise data that helps us understand, monitor, and transform thousands of acres of land across the UK. Whether flying drones to capture a myriad of data, contributing to our ArcGIS ecosystem, or helping process collected data into clear and presentable deliverables, your work will directly shape decisions on habitat restoration, rewilding, and environmental monitoring. We’ve already started building world-class data capabilities, but there’s so much more to explore. This is your chance to be part of that journey, helping pioneer new technologies, refine methods, and bring our landscapes to life in new dimensions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and deliver drone surveys across our UK estate portfolio, ensuring data quality, mission safety, and CAA compliance.
  • Generate orthorectified imagery, digital elevation models, and other spatial datasets.
  • Support the development of mapping applications and data integrations within our ArcGIS ecosystem.
  • Process and manage remote sensing data, helping identify patterns and changes across landscapes.
  • Collaborate with the GIS and Natural Capital teams to transform raw spatial data into actionable insights for environmental baselining, restoration, and monitoring.
  • Maintain and calibrate drone and surveying equipment to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance.
  • Capture high-quality drone imagery and video to support storytelling and communication of our mission.
  • Work in accordance with our company Health & Safety protocols, particularly those governing drone flight and fieldwork operations.

ABOUT US

We’re building the UK’s first genuine natural capital portfolio - acquiring large landscapes, restoring them, and creating investable natural capital products like premium carbon credits, biodiversity units, renewable energy partnerships, and ecotourism experiences (you can check them out at Oxygen Escapes). In just four years, we’ve grown to a valuation upwards of £400m with 50,000+ acres owned and helped connect over half a million acres for nature. Our mission is simple: prove that restoring ecosystems can deliver world-class environmental, social, and financial returns.
