Job Description

Flood Risk Engineer
Reading
38,000 - 45,000 plus hybrid working

With 3-4 years of experience behind you in the realm of flood risk, you'll be more than ready for a new challenge and an opportunity to progress your career. Whether you've spent your early career in a large corporate office, or as part of a smaller company, this medium-sized multi-discipline consultancy can help accelerate your career.

There's a fantastic record of career progression, reward and promotion here, so your work and efforts won't go unnoticed.

The role

You'll be playing to your strengths delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions, from pre-planning through to full implementation. A primary focus will be on developing foul and surface water drainage strategies, alongside preparing Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs). A solid understanding of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) is essential, as is familiarity with the design process from initial concept through to construction for drainage and flood alleviation projects.

You'll be managing projects day-to-day, preparing FRAs, conceptual designs for flood protection measures, and drainage strategies that support planning applications and construction drawings. Site visits may be necessary to inform project direction. You'll support senior staff and verify technical work, as well as assist with fee proposals. Key responsibilities include producing FRAs, designing foul and surface water/SuDS systems, and implementing SuDS using the MicroDrainage software package. Familiarity with software like InfoWorks, ICM, Flood Modeller, and QGIS is advantageous.
