Job Title: Design and Graphics Technician - SRK Consulting

DESIGN & GRAPHICS TECHNICIAN
 
Reporting To: Department Line Manager and the Mining Department Manager
Department: Mining Hours of Work: 09:00 – 17:30, Monday to Friday, with a 30 minute lunch break (40 hours per week)
Salary Scale: £…. depending on skills.
Holidays: 29 working days per annum inclusive of bank and public holidays. Leave increases with length of service.

Post Responsibilities: To work closely with the Senior GIS/CAD Technical Operator and project engineers to assess project needs and requirements for engineering drafting / generation of report figures.
 
Main Duties: The following provides a guide to the main duties the successful candidate will undertake. The list however is not exhaustive and further reasonable duties from time to time as may be deemed in keeping with the job designation may be required to be undertaken:
  • Preparation of technical drawings for civil, electrical, mechanical and mining applications
  • Preparation of detailed maps and figures for technical reports
  • Assisting in the graphic design of marketing and other documentation
  • Coaching other staff in how to improve their graphical output
  • Generation of flowsheets, organisation charts and other graphical output
 
SPECIALIST SKILLS:
Essential:
  • Previous relevant experience of civil engineering design and technical drafting
  • In depth experience of drawing conventions and standards
  • A wide range of graphics and visual representation skills
  • Ability to adapt to a wide variety of assignments from complex engineering drawings to simple figures for inclusion in technical reports
  • Ability to deliver high quality work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and to prioritise workload effectively
  • Excellent organisational skills with good attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team Desirable:
  • Experience and flair in graphical design
  • Knowledge of web design
  • Proven problem solving skills
 
TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
  • Qualifications related to engineering and technical design work
  • Competence in the use of AutoCAD/ AutoCAD Civils software
  • Previous experience of using CORELDraw software
  • Highly computer literate
  • Ability to rapidly learn new software as required
  • Willing to proactively engage with consultants/clients to maintain and improve the quality of graphical output.
Desirable:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification, preferably in a scientific or engineering discipline
  • Knowledge of using MapInfo, ArcGIS or both

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

  • To work outside normal working hours when required in order to meet project deadlines.
