Marine Data Administrator
Salary: £30,000
Location: London
The Crown Estate, valued at over £6 billion, manages a wide range of land and property across the United Kingdom, including over 55 percent of the foreshore and almost all off the seabed out to the 12 nautical mile limit. Every year we pay a revenue surplus to the UK Treasury for the benefit of all taxpayers. Our activities are supported by our core values of commercialism, integrity and stewardship, which inform the way we behave and the actions we take to fulfil our responsibilities.
We require selected tenants of our marine estate involved with offshore windfarms to submit all data and metadata collected during the course of their development, commissioning and operation. In order to store and use this information most effectively we are implementing a revised Data Management System. This system will be managed in-house by a Marine Data Administrator.
In this newly created role we will look to you to validate all data submitted and extract spatial data layers and post processing raw datasets into formats useable by other in-house systems including our Marine Resource System (MaRS) and the corporate GIS. You will also act as the first point of contact and support for the system and will maintain a lead role in its technical administration, this will include maintaining a record of submissions, monitoring compliance and engaging with tenants and colleagues to seek out the best use of the data. Your experience of working with UK environmental, marine and energy resource datasets will be combined with good communication skills and the ability to build good relationships at all levels. Experience of the existing COWRIE data management system and Round 2 windfarm developments would be an advantage.
Closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 12 March 2010.
The Crown Estate is committed to diversity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. |
