Middlemarch Environmental Ltd., an established ecological consultancy, is seeking to recruit a GIS technician. Primarily, the role will include thematic map production for ecological survey reports and spatial data management using ESRI products. The GIS technician will also take part in field data collection and project support. The post is based in Coventry.
The post would suit a graduate in a relevant discipline (e.g. GIS/geography/ecology or similar) with 12 months practical experience in GIS work. Equally, candidates with GIS skills based on mainly practical experience (exceeding 2 years) are welcome to apply.
- Demonstrable ability to work with ESRI products (or other GIS software packages, e.g. MapInfo; and/or CAD systems) is essential.
- Good IT skills in Microsoft Office (word processing/spreadsheets/
databases) and basic image processing (e.g. IrfanView/CorelDRAW) are essential.
- Experience in dealing with OS data sets and aerial imagery is considered beneficial.
The employment package offers a competitive salary (£17,250-£22,000) dependent on experience & skills; a pension plan; 24 days annual holiday and an opportunity for continued professional development. The post is full-time and permanent.
