Job Description:
Overall Purpose
To oversee the Commission’s Geographic Information Systems and ensure that the organisation’s mapping capability is fit for purpose. The post holder will also manage the Commission’s data: electorate figures, management information and performance indicators and report on them to colleagues and commissioners.
Main Responsibilities
Oversee the Commission’s GIS capability: working with suppliers, advising colleagues and developing systems to help the organisation deliver its aims.
Collect, analyse and present electorate data on English local authorities to guide the Commission in its work.
Devise collection systems, coordinate collection and produce business information for management and present key performance indicator information at Board level.
Contribute to the planning and scoping of the Commission’s five-year work programme.
Contribute to projects and work streams as required
General
To understand, and actively promote, the aims and objectives of the Commission’s Corporate Plan and other Commission plans and strategies.
To understand and adhere to organisational values and behaviours
To ensure equality of opportunity is maintained and respected at all times in accordance with the appropriate policies and procedures.
To work co-operatively with colleagues across the Commission.
To work with colleagues in evaluating and investigating improvements to the working practices and policies of the Commission and participating in working groups and other forums to help improve the business and its processes.
To comply with the statutory provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
To actively participate in opportunities to communicate within the organisation, including attending team meetings.
To make full use of appropriate technology for all tasks.
To demonstrate a willingness to work flexibly with others to respond to needs of an evolving organisation.
To ensure that confidentiality is respected and maintained at all times.
To perform any other duty as directed by line management.
To participate fully in the Commission’s performance appraisal scheme and to take responsibility, with support from line management, for own development.
