Geospatial Insight was established in 2012 by a number of highly experienced experts in the Geospatial market. Geospatial Insight take propriety data sources, apply quantitative and qualitative analysis, along with expert interpretation to help deliver better business intelligence. Recent growth in the business has led to creation of a new role in the West Midlands, for a GIS/Remote Sensing Analyst specialising in the use of GIS and Remote Sensing techniques for business intelligence.

As a GIS/Remote Sensing analyst you will be primarily responsible for using GIS and remote sensing techniques to interpret data, understand patterns and model/map/report the results. This covers a broad range of different application areas including image processing, catastrophe mapping, land classification, land suitability assessment, crop yields, environmental studies, mapping, renewable energy and equity performance.

The candidate is expected to have a GIS background, at degree or post graduate level, ideally with at least 1 year’s commercial experience. The key requirements for the role are:
  • A strong technical background, with a keen interest in developing new methodologies to solve complex spatial problems.
  • Experience of working with and processing satellite imagery
  • Knowledge of one of the main raster GIS packages, such as ERDAS Imagine, is preferable.
  • A high level of skill in one of the main vector GIS tools, such as QGIS or ArcGIS.
  • A good understanding of statistical analysis techniques preferable.
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
  • Microsoft Office, in particular Word and Excel.
Based in Coleshill/Tamworth, in the West Midlands, the salary will be dependent on the experience of the individual.
